Dr. Domenico Veneziano is a urologist, expert in robotic surgery and minimally invasive treatments. Over the course of his career, he has specialized in the management of prostate cancer, kidney cancer (1.8% open conversion rate), bladder cancer, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and urinary stone disease with specific interest in the latest available technolgies.
He served at the Smith Institute of Urology, Northwell Health, New York, as Director of Urology at Valley Stream LIJ Hospital and as Assistant Clinical Professor of Urology at Hofstra–Northwell University of New York (USA). Currently Professor of Urology (International appointment) at Moscow State University.
He completed his laparoscopic training at Martin Luther University (Halle-Saale, Germany) in 2011. In 2014, he completed a fellowship at the University of Minnesota (USA) in Simulation and Education Technologies, accredited by the American College of Surgeons, representing the first fellowship worldwide expressly dedicated to surgical simulation. In 2019, he obtained a PhD in Simulation Technologies from the Universidade do Minho, Braga, Portugal.
Dr. Veneziano is an internationally recognized key opinion leader and pioneer in the field of surgical education and digital healthcare. He has introduced multiple innovations in curriculum development, simulator design, and the organization of hands-on training events. Since 2014, he has delivered over 75 invited lectures and coordinated more than 80 courses across 16 countries, including several training events in Asia and the first-ever standardized hands-on surgical training course in the United States, endorsed by the American Urological Association.
He is the author of several high-impact scientific papers and book chapters in surgical education and serves as project coordinator of the EST-s1 and EST-s2 curricula, currently implemented as training and assessment tools for surgeons in 38 countries.
From 2014 to 2018, he acted as Coordinator of Hands-on Training for the European Urological Residents Education Programme (EUREP), the flagship educational program of the European School of Urology. He is currently responsible for the development of novel training curricula on behalf of the European Association of Urology (EAU). Former Chairman and Founder of the “New Technologies and Communication” group within the Young Academic Urologists Working Party (YAUWP).
Dr. Veneziano is the founder of INTECH S.R.L. – Innovative Training Technologies, currently the exclusive partner of scientific societies such as EAU and GESEA for the production and distribution of licensed training simulators. He is the recipient of the Italian Matula Award 2019, awarded by the Italian Society of Urology for the best Italian scientific curriculum under the age of 40.
He is a member of the Scientific Board of the AEON Foundation for Longevity, author of over 90 peer-reviewed publications (H-index: 22), editor of two books on urological surgery, and holder of two patents in surgical education technologies.
